Peril is mild and brief. A wagon rolls quickly over a hill and wrecks corrals, allowing penned animals to escape. The trek to find them and bring them home requires crossing a rickety bridge and a wide river. A sheep and dog are swept down a river on a log, but Emmett rescues them. The group seek shelter in a place that's threatened by a flash flood, but they get out in time.

Parents need to know that Curious George: Go West, Go Wild is an installment in the series of movies and books about the cheerful and mischievous monkey named George and his best friend/trainer Ted, also known as The Man in the Yellow Hat. This time they head west by train to stay at cousin Ginny's farm while she vacations with her adventurous mom. George and Ted encounter some mild and short-lived perils, as when they have to cross a seemingly unstable old covered bridge and ford a wide river with a herd of farm animals, but there's little here to offend or frighten. What's the Story?
CURIOUS GEORGE: GO WEST GO WILD is the latest installment in the famed series of books and movies that have charmed kids and parents for generations. Here George accompanies Ted (Jeff Bennett), The Man in the Yellow Hat, to Ted's cousin Ginny's farm. Ted's promised to farm-sit while she vacations with her adventurous mom. But Ted knows nothing of farms and little about country life. Emmett (Max Mittelman) is the young farmhand in charge, still learning the ropes himself. George's mischievous antics immediately upend the farm's routine. When the farm's animals get out and run off into the countryside, Emmett demonstrates that despite his inexperience, he has great presence of mind and organizes a rescue operation. He practices lassoing until he masters it. His willingness to keep trying inspires Ted to learn to fish and ride a horse and George to learn to play harmonica. Ginny experiences a similar liberation from cautiousness on her trip as well.

Curious George: Go West Go Wild is designed to appeal to preschoolers, and it certainly will. George represents the kind of enthusiasm and blundering small children experience as they encounter new challenges every day. George manages to cheerfully make mistakes and show remorse, to which kids will relate. The good news for George and his viewers is that he's always forgiven and always loved no matter what, making these adventures a great model for how kids want to be treated and for exhausted parents who may not always have the energy to show Ted's patience and forbearance.
